Hi everyone. Hope yall can help me out with a little problem im having. The stock springs for my '79 chief are starting to sag and im looking to get new ones that are either the same size or a little bigger. My question is what size springs do i need, where can i find new springs, and what is a rough cost of the springs.
Thanks in advance,
Alex

You can order stock replacements from JC Whitney, I think you're looking at just under $400 for all four corners with shipping. ESPO makes stock and custom replacement springs--they'll build you a 2" lift pack or whatever you need. Or, you could go with a Rough Country or Rusty's lift--3" will sag a bit, leave you with around 2" of actual lift.
Go ahead and start spraying PB Blaster on the leaf spring bolts NOW! You'll thank me for it later :D

I say lift the baby!!! 4" is a good starting point. It would be real easy to goa ahead and do a full suspension lift.

Lift it! If you don't now you'll just want to later.

I got new fronts from Detroit Spring. See my post in "For sale or trade".

I agree with almost all statements above. FSJs look better with a little lift. If you're going to spend the money now, might as well go 3" or higher than stock. Don't block it or add-a-leaf it just get the real deal: full length leafs. Start spraying those bolts/nuts regardless though!! Make sure you get new UBolts and nuts. The old ones will probably be stretched.
I'd go with a 4" from BDS, but that's just because that's what I have. *grin*

Me likey! Though I'm not really one to tell if they are soft or hard etc... Bumps are bumps... I like BDS' warranty on them. I like that they were super easy to deal with. I got them from a guy in Abilene and instead of shipping them to his shop, he just had them shipped to me. So cool.
Easy to install... I had to grind down the rear spring, it was too thick... All the hardware worked fine. Didn't come with brake lines or pitman though...
AND not to many people are running them. To me they feel like stock. Not too soft, and I'm not hitting my head on the ceiling either...
