Help, started the wagon this morning to go to work, fast idle working. went inside to get coffee and door is locked on wagon. fast idle still working,i'm nervous now. I leave in chevy sub to get spare key at friends house and return fast idle still going, unlock door kick down idle and loud pop, anti freeze spilling on ground, steam pouring out. I'm not happy now and we both cool down for a while. No sign of where coolent came from, so I refill with H20 a let warm up, no sign of any leaks, recovery tank has a film of brown on water(not oily), nothing in oil.Did the coolent over flow out of the radiator cap?and through the recovery tank? engine runs fine no leaks. Any help would be great.

m4,
My guess is it came from the overflow/coolant resevoir. It's happened to me before....
I've always been told after a bad overheating experience to change the oil. May or may not be necessary.... Comments on this are welcome. ;)

Keep a spare key in your wallet. I've done that plenty of times. That spare key is a life saver but then mine starts without a key anyways so the key is usually in my pocket :D
