I need to do a complete brake job and it looks like amc 20 drums aren't always available. Where should I go and is 11x2" the correct size on brake pads?

jcwhitney has fairly inexpensive replacement drums, last time I looked they were in the $45 dollar range.

i need rear drums bad. Napa and CarQuest both want 82 bucks each. And I refuse to buy parts from autozone because their parts are junk.

Are the JCWhitney drums of good quality? if so I may just go with them.

I don't think they are the same as GM, They are still avalible they are the
same from 76 (??) to the end 91, the Dana 44 rigs use the same drum as the
AMC 20 rigs so that is not the isssue. Every once in a while I have seen new sets
on ebay, I think I paid $50 for a set of new bendix drums last year.

I paid $24.36 each for rear drums. I have been told that there are only a few manufacturers that make brake drums anymore, but other folks relable them.

I got them at www.natauto.com (http://www.natauto.com)

1-800-428-4300/Dave.

By the way, I also got brand new in the box air injection pipes from them: Left side $24.15, right side: $31.89. Made by Standard Ignition.

Bluesky,

Here is the link to the page on JCWHITNEY's website for their drum replacements,

http://www.jcwhitney.com/productnoitem.jhtml?CATID=48898&BQ=jcw2

BRAKE DRUM
-Built to original specifications
-Precision machined of high-grade iron
Replaces over-cut or damaged front or rear drum…restores safety and efficiency. Note: Brake drum size is determined by measuring inside diameter.

I was a wee off on the price, they are $59.95 ea for 11" drum, 1977 - 1991 Grand Wagoneer.

For some reason the Zone doesn't carry them, but I picked some up at Advance AutoParts for $53 each. They had to get them from the wharehouse though.
