Well, I have spent the last 3 weeks trying to get the Accell 300+ CDI ignition to work on my 87 GW. My mechanic also spent 1/2 a day. I wasted a lot of time on the phone with technical (waste of time) support.
Anyway DON'T BY ACCELL!!!!
I am now trying to do the Ignition upgrade for the TFI coil with a MSD 6A ignition module. However, in the process of installing the 300+, i have completely hacked my ignition wiring.
Can one of you who have the TFI upgrade and MSD 6A, please send me or explain to me the wiring that is required for the 6A box(i assume most of this will come from MSD) and especially all of the wires running to the TFI coil and stock distributor.
Thanks in advance
david

Check out the TEAM RUSH upgrade at
http://www.trailhed.com/duraspark%20upgrade.html
They do alot of explaining and have 3 levels of upgrads. Ther are also some wiring diagrams to, but they look like they are for the Ford box though.
Good luck.

Larry,
Thanks Larry. They have the wiring diagrams I was looking for. I notice you have done this upgrade. Are you using the MSD 6A box or the stock motorcraft ignition box? If you are using the 6A, does it completely replace the stock ignition?
Thanks Again

I still have the motorcraft box. The MSD 6A is on one of my wish list. I like the sound of multible sparks to 20* of crank rotation at lower RPMs.
I still need the heavy springs and to open my gap to .045. This can hold off untill spring.

Hey Dave,
There are two ways to hook up the MSD 6A box to the duraspark ignition. One uses the duraspark box to trigger the MSD and the other uses the signal directly form the distributor. The MSD website has great instructions/diagrams to hook it up either way. The URL is:
http://msdignition.com/
Look at the instructions for the ford duraspark.

Hey dave,
If you have any questions on the MSD install, email me, i'll walk you through it, and I can send you pics of my MSD6-Offroad install. If you read through ALL the instructions that came with the MSD its pretty easy.
I can't say as I did the TFI upgrade, but I think that'll come soon. BTW, your stock coil needs to be moved with the upgrade (according to MSD) As I found out the hard way, the coil REALLY needs to be mounted vertically which means it has to come off the intake manifold.

Thanks guys for the responses. I think between the websites and the msd instructions, maybe i can get this thing to work.
Andy, I will definitely be in contact with you since you already have exactly what I intend to install.
Thanks again.
