I am finaly getting my new/used engine ready to put in the wag. Got new timeing chain, water pump, rebuilt heads, new covers and was thinking of replacing the cam while I'm in there... I'v seen one mentioned from Summit that Porkchop and some of the other guys have used and like... anyone got the model# or suggestions? It's supposed to run around $80 or so... This will be a daily driver so I don't need anything extreem.

I bought the sum-k8600 kit which is what most people on here who run the Summit have purchased as well. The 8601 is a little too much for most of these motors.

Does it sound like it's worth the time and $ to put it in now? Seems pretty like a pretty cheep upgrade and would be easiest to do right now with the engine out. Then maybe a better intake later...

If the engine is out, now is the time to replace the cam! It is a lot easier to switch it now than when it is in the truck. The price is right too. I would go ahead and do it.

Ok then!
I'll put the order into Summit for the cam kit in the morning! What kind of improvement can I expect with this cam ???

Make sure you order a new set of lifters too>>>>>>

The Summit K8600 cam is a kit with lifters, all for $80. Got it in my 360 in my Wrangler, just got it running Sunday afternoon. Very strong. Still needs carb tuning, but you can just tell it's going to be a runner. Nice bit of rumpety-rump at idle, but not excessive. Might not even hardly notice except for the loud-arsed exhaust system I cobbled up!

I just put the K8600 in mine, though I'm still waiting to reassemble the engine. I did it with
the engine in the truck. It's much less fun my
way . . . trust me, bubeleh.
