I've about had it with my driver's side power window. I fixed it a while ago by replacing the regulator flex rack. It just broke again, and I again tried to replace it the the HELP! brand you can find at the discount auto parts houses. Before I even got it on, I broke the connector off! I was feeding the strip to the motor, ran to motor to take it up, it caught on an edge and the torque of the motor tore it right off. Bottom line is, the strip can't handle the full torque of the motor, so I want to find a better quality replacement part.
I saw JC Whitney has it, but I'm afraid it might be the same thing. Outside of OEM, anybody know of another brand or distributor I might try?
BJ's Offroad sells them. Don't know if they're different than the parts store ones though?

Dealerships have the good ones for about $22 each. Checker, Napa, Pep Boys, Advance Auto sell the HELP red carded ones for about $15. They are of a poorer quality.

I went to Napa and they had the same HELP brand but their own store lable. They guy there said he was pretty sure HELP gets it from OEM. Don't really know the true story....I'll pay the extra dough if I think the quality is better.

Recently replaced driver's side on my 87. Got it from the Dealer for total of $19.16. Another good source is grandwaggoneers.com although a little more expensive. It takes a little more time but to ensure your replacement job lasts, often the track gets rusty at the lower part of the curve. To do it right you need to remove the assembly and throughly sand off the rust and lub it up well. What you use depends on where you live. Down here in the hot south, white grease works well for me.
