My 77 Cherokee Chief has a bad wiring harness to the electric tailgate. The wires are broken between the body and the tailgate. I have tried to patch them once but by the time you add connectors and electrical tape the wires will not slide through the slots and they just bend. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement harness or a fix for the problem.

ADD A NEW PIECE OF WIRE. SPLICE IT IN THE TAILGATE AND THE OTHER END SPLICE OUTSIDE THE TAILGATE. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. WORKED FOR ME.

Did you reuse the old plastic sleeve around the wires? I believe it helps guide the wires through the slots. Mine is trash, will the wires slide freely without the sleeve?

YES I REUSED THE PLASTIC COVER. I THINK THE WIRES SHOULD SLIDE OK WITH OUT THEM.

Thanks for you help. I'll give it a try and let you know the outcome. Have a good day. Wayne

I redid the wireing like you said and I reused the remaining good section of the sleeve (about 4") and it is working perfect and I feel confident it will work for a long time. Thanks very much. Wayne
