its getting closer to putting the new intake on. i now have a carb to go with it, kinda. my neighbor gave us this carb for free. he said it absolutely screamed on his truck. my father was thinking it was a 550-600 cfm holley. i did some looking with the numbers stamped on it, and i think its a 780 cfm 3310-1. it fits just fine on the manifold (edelbrock performer), but i am missing quite a few trinkets from the carb itself as the pictures reveal. most obvious is the butterfly. can i order these directly from holley? rob them off the 2bl presently on there (doubtful but ill ask)? and finally, im wondering if this carb would be a good choice. the intake and carb are the most i can do to get some more power. shes a dog when it comes to power. merging onto the highway isnt exactly fun.

The choke valve and linkages are available from Holley, but I can't tell if anything else is missing. Most hot rodders removed the choke in their quest for speed. You can get a new 3310 for cheap and you will know it hasn't been jacked with. It is a 750cfm, vacuum secondary and it would work on a stock motor but a 650cfm would be better. Holley sold/sells millions of these carbs so you should be able to pick up another used 3310 for parts for less that 50$. I would overhaul it before I put it on and a kit is about 35$ and get a Holley brand kit.

Just put an Edelbrock Performer manifold and matching 1406 carb on my '72 360. What a difference! I like it.
Just be sure to install the water fitting back by the tranny dipstick before you put the manifold on the engine. If you don't, you won't be able to screw it in because it will hit the dipstick tube.

You need to find out what that carb came from. As if it came off of a big block, it will be jetted WAY to big.

The Holley catalog will tell you what jets and power valve came in it from the factory.

any tips and such at making the swap smooth?

780 is a bit much for a 360 unless you've cammed it and made some other mods intending to up the operating rpm range imho. Most like the 650 range.
Also on holley's rebuild rebuild rebuild before you put it in there and check all the jets before hand. Surely someone here has successfully tuned one already on an fsj and can give you some good starting numbers on the jets.
g'luck.

I have some details on my drivetrain page (off my Cherokee page in my sig below) about the tuning it took to get a 3310 to run well on my 360. It definitely didn't run as well as my 600cfm carb does now, but it can work.
