engine swap

i need to know what i need to change from a 258 engine to a 350 chevy engine in my 79 j10 with a manual 4 speed,will i need an adapter plate or not, and could someone tell me what the transmition model number is?

Tranny should be a T-18 and yes you will need an adapter if I remember right. Get ahold of advanced adapters or novak and they can tell you what you'll need there. I believe they also sell motor mounts but I can't remember for sure...lots of people here have done this swap and someone will chime in.
