Had tank out for a year while I worked on this project and now think the cutting out probs I've been having are due to rust clogging pickup and filter. It'a 40 gal metal tank supplying AirSensor TBI through low pressure filter, low pressure pump, high pressure pump, high pressure filter, TBI. I replaced low pressure filter with glass one to check for rust and didn't have to look hard. Not bad at idle but pulls the rust up at load running around the block. Is there a cure or am I looking at replacing the tank? Thanks.

Por-15 makes a treatment for rusty gas tanks. www.Por-15.com (http://www.Por-15.com) I believe it is supposed to remove existing rust and seal any small holes.

Where did you get a 40 gal. tank?

Yeah, por15 makes and acid etcher to remove the rust, and a sealer if you have any pinholes in the tank. Just use the acis etcher to remove the rust and keep gas in the tank from now on and you won't have anymore issues.

Thanks for the replies. I emailed POR about it and will see what they recommend. PC- the 40 gal tank came on my parts rig. If it's homemade they did a nice job. Has all the fittings as well as a drain. Sits right behind QT low and ends just before rear axle on driver side. Figure worth keeping if I can rehab it.

Mine sits in the same place and it is only a 18 gal tank. Do you have any pictures of it? I would love to see this. Maybe I can find one or make one.
