well, my problems all started when i got my wag back from the shop... it ran horribly, and one day it just stopped running. it turns over fine, its getting fuel, and all vac hoses are connected. the plugs and wires are all new, and the a visual inspection of the dist. and cap look fine. i just rebuilt the carb (after it stopped running) so i dont think it is that. do you guys think could it be the solenoids? any other things to check? thanks in advance

Check for spark...check ignition module, ignition switch, ammeter (could burn out without smoke or fire and just quit...had this happen to a friend of mine)

well me and my neighbors just went outside and checked for a spark, and there isn't one... we also checked the coil with an ohmmeter and it checked out to factory specs. to tell the truth though, i dont know what an ammeter even is, so could you please explain what it is ?

ammeter (is below the oil pressure gauge) measure the charge discharge of the battery. All the current goes thru it.
disconnect battery, reach behind the dash, by resting your head against the throttle pedal.... you may see the 2 posts connectors for the ammeter, disconnect both and connect them both to the same ammeter post
but if no spark and it is turning over..... it could be the ignition switch or the resistor wire to the coil, or the dizzy or the module (on the fenderwell), this is where points are superiors
let us know

If the coil is getting spark, I would say that it is either the wire from the coil to the cap, the cap, rotor, distributor, ignition switch, or ignition module...do what Michel says hehe smile.gif And buy an ignition module anyway for good measure, they're cheap and if it blows on you, you can just plug the new one in.

if you've got power to the coil but no spark, then the magnetic pickup on the dizzy might not be doing its thing, check the plug/wires from the dizzy that lay along the top of the intake manifold. mine was badly corroded and not making contact and the symptoms were the same as yours.
good luck,
Robert
