Hey guys, I need your help locating and adjusting my throttle valve linkage on my 258 chero. As I'm sure you're all aware, my Jeep does not like to downshift under full acceleration and I have to let off on it 3/4 before it will shift, and I've narrowed the problems down to either the kickdown switch or the throttle valve linkage. I've already tightened the shift linkage, and that didn't seem to do much. Removed the slop on the shift rod trunnion and bellcrank arm, but that was it. My Haynes manual only shows pictures of a 360 for locating these parts. I think I located the kickdown "plunger" at the upper end of the accelerator pedal, and it says to push that in, and press the accelerator, that it is self adjusting after that. ...It didn't do anything. Also, along with that, the pedal has a fair amount of slop in it. What would this inhibit from running properly?
So my only other possibility I believe is the throttle valve linkage, and I do not know where to start in adjusting that. I can find the throttle control rod easy enough, but things just aren't clicking for me.
Hope I've done my homework enough for you guys to help me out. Lemme know if there is any other info you might need.
(The carburetor is a weber 32/36)
Thanks in advance!
