The above link takes you to an auction that is selling a rear disc brake kit (mount) for our GW's. Has anybody purchased this kit and what are your thoughts?
Thanks!

The auction is for the brackets only. This guy has been on e-bay for quite some time but I dont know of anyone that has bought his kit, so I cant get any info on them.

I've kept his pictures in my "favorites" because I'd like to do this to mine someday. The guy is selling brackets that he makes, along with a list of parts to go buy in order to complete the system. From my homework, these appear to be regular GM rear calipers with the e-brake connection.

Ralph:
I was interested in this brake system because I need to replace my drums and shoes. Do you have any idea what GM brakes are needed?
Will the existing parking brake/emergency brakes attach?

I'm definitly converting to disc brakes. This sounds like an easy way to go with not much cost involved. I hope we find someone on this forum that has used this guys product.

I wrote the guy and asked him for a cost estimate for all the parts he recommends (in addition to the brackets that he makes). Here's what he wrote back:
"Ralph,
"I just checked at our local CarQuest.
"1977 Cadillac Sedan DeVille--
Calipers with parking brakes- $62 each
Calipers without parking brakes- $22
"1995 Chevy 4wd 3/4-ton truck
Rotors- $40 each
4 caliper guide pins- $5.00 each
Pads- $23
"Didn't check the fittings, etc.
"Lokar has a $45 universal parking brake cable kit.
"Thanks,
"Doug100"

I have seen this kit several times on ebay and have wondered myseft, hope someone gets it and gives us the info w/ pics http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif
Only thing I would say about the parts above is the calipers w/ ebrake are a little more but what wasn't mentioned the very high core charge for those, place I went to said like $80 A PIECE! Just FYI to either go w/o ebrake for hit the bone yard for cores.
