Some background- I had an intermittent stalling problem. Jeep would run fine but just stop like I had turned off the key. Still had power, no sputtering or hesitation. I could shift to neutral, crank it right up and keep going. I replaced ignition module and this seemed to fix that problem but here’s my new issue. Jeep runs stronger than ever but after I drive it for 15 minutes or so it will not crank a second time. Let it sit for an hour or two and it cranks right up?? Did I put a bad ignition module in? Any more ideas?

First try to rule out things like the fuel system... Is the accelerator pump still pump fuel when it won’t start ?
When you say “it will not crank’ does this mean the starter will not rotate the engine ? Might try cleaning all electrical plugs and connections.
Try ”Jiggling” the wire looms when it won’t start.
Good Luck... CUL... ;) ds..

test your starter relay...if it won't crank(turn the starter)...the you could also check your starter, and the wires to it....

do some jigglin' as don sugests..there could be a connection when cool makes contact, but hot it doesn't...It happens

welcome aboard...

This may not be related, but I've had the tranny safety switch go loose on me. It generally requires jiggling the drive lever in park before it will engage the starter. Sometimes just getting in and out of the Jeep was enough to wiggle things into place, which originally made me think the problem was something overheating and cooling off. (like you, I got out and waited ten minutes to try again) On occasion I have to put it in Nuetral to get the thing to crank. It hasn't annoyed me enough yet to try and fix it right.

If your starter is engaging then it's a different problem. Not sure what you meant by "not cranking".

If it's a "no start" when hot, but will crank (that is, turn over by the starter) here's a possibility: The trigger coil in the distributor may be bad. Happened to me on a '78 Wag. Worked when cool, not when hot.
This is assuming you have the Motorcraft ignition.

Im with Mccullough. check the conections to the starter relay. The ign mod rarely fails intermitently.
Remove the conections to the starter selinoid and clean them up good with a file or sandpaper.
good luck

Well, I had a problem somewhat similar to that, check the wire between your starter and relay, mine was slightly melted, so I replaced it with a 4awg wire, and it hasnt given me trouble since.
