Door Wiondows

[79 FSJ]

I have a 2 door FSJ and the channel at the bottom of the passanger door has come off the glass frame. I was going to head to the Salvage Yard today and see if I can get a new window. Are the 2 door and 4 door models the same up front, or are the front doors different on the 2 models...?? thanks

They are the same even the J Trucks are the same. Power windows do differ from manual that is the only difference. ;)

Hey Gary, the metal track at the bottom of the window usualy rusts and comes loose off the window. ;)

Yeah, that is exactly what happened... the spot welds seperated and the metal track, simply broke(fell) off...

I just went to a local Jeep salvage yard at lunch and talked with a guy there... he told me since I have a welder to just put some small quick spots on it with my Mig and that should hold it, he also suggested to refinish it and remove as much of the age(rust) as possible... I though this was a good idea, and good suggestion, he did not even try to sell me one of the mutiple windows he had there...

I also picked up some door panels from a Truck, Handles, Window cranks, Spare rim, and the shield that covers the Torque converter, and a great pair of tail light lenses... all for $100 after tax... I thought it was a good deal...

THE FIRST THING THAT I THINK OF IS TO REPAIR.....REPAIR BEFORE REPLACE.....IF YOU CAN'T REPAIR IT,,,, THEN REPLACE IT!!!!...... .... THAT'S WHY I WANTED TO KNOW .......ME!!!!!! :eek:
