What transmission was used in the 1984 Grand Wagoneer, and would it swap into a 1983 easily?

Tourqueflite 727, it should be identical to the 1983.
Assuming we're talking AT's. If the 84 has a 360 in it it's the identical 727 that's in the 83 in your sig file.
If the donor has a 258 in it, it could be either the 727(same as yours) if it came with the AT/3.31 gear combo or the 999 trans if it came with the AT/2.73 gear combo. Either will work but the 999 is a ligher duty trans.
did you find a parts rig?... hummm?.... possible dibbs if you'll have left overs! I also know someone who may need a 360 transplant....

Thanks fellas. A guy came up to me and asked if I was interested in a wagoneer I said maybe and went to look at it. its was one I tried to purchase from a previous owner, wanted too much for it now the new owner doesn't want too put more money into it but knows I would make it right, or make sure it was not crushed. So if I can get a reeeal nice price there might be some parts left over. I'm thinking about swapping the whole drive line, it only has 120,000 on motor and rebuilt tranny, mine has 190,000 the trans has been rebuilt at least 4 times. I'll keep you guys posted if I get it.
