the stock radiator is loosing coolant in my 89 Grand Wag. Should i fix it or will it just break again?.mine was ordered with some heavy duty cooling system but im not sure its worth fixin. I also have heard that these have cooling problems, is that true? And if i should get a new one, what do yall think i should upgrade too(core style, size, capacity, etc)? Thank you
I would try fixen it first. The radiators for these things are 250-300 a piece so if it works the fix is worth every penny just to try.

They can be patched up most of the time. I had enough of that though and bought a new one on Ebay $79 for a 3 row. Don't know what they are going for on there right now. But check there first.

I got a brand new 3-row for 180 bucks at the local rad shop. got a built 401 and it runs fine with a 3 core, didn't need a 4 row.....phil

I would go with oddfire on this one. Your getting ready to drive it to the Carolina's, you really don't want a failure on the way. The new 3-core is cheap insurance.

The installation is exactlty the same for a 4 core as for a 3 core.Put in the 4 core and don't look back.

It has been my experience that unless your radiator is absolutely pristene, it's not worth fixin. By time you take it IN AND OUT AND IN AND OUT a half a dozen times to get it fixed right it's just not worth the hassle. Buy a new one with a good warranty and be done with it. (I do realize we can't all afford to do this...good luck)

I too agree that a 4 row is the way to go. I paid $250 for mine that comes with a lifetime warranty. If the radiator is original replace it. If it is failing you may be able to patch it now but it will fail soon again.
