I'm wondering if I can leave the belt off my air injection pump because I think the pump's making a knocking sound when m'engine's a'goin'
'preciate it,

legally, no. in reality, sure. it just helps to finish burning the fuel in the exhaust system to reduce emmisions. but, of course you must hook it back up after testing. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/wink.gif

If you have emissions testing in your area you will need to leave it hooked up or carbon from the exhaust will plug the air tubes and when you need it, it will not work.
If you do not have testing you can unhook it and see how the catalytic converter acts, it may not like it. Everything should be OK though.

ok, thanks gents'
looks like that knocking isn't the air injection anyway, so I'll have to put some thought into that one
now, on to the next question
