I'm looking to pick up a 4" spring lift for my J-10, and was wondering what everybody was doing for extended swaybar links. I know alot of people probably remove them, however I use mine primarily on the street, and want to retain the stability. Do people use CJ extended links??? Thanks.

Yes CJ/YJ links will work just fine.

That, and I wonder what the length comparison is, eg, does a 4" lift swaybar link for a CJ work for a 4" lift FSJ, or is the stock FSJ link longer than the stock CJ link???
Quick disconnects would be nice - I'm sure someone has gone through this already!?!?!
I don't know if you would really need them for a 4" lift. You could probably just rotate the sway bar down until you can hook the links up. It shouldn't hurt the performance of the sway bar any.

I used CJ/YJ 4" lift disconnects with my Rustys 4" spring lift, and they where the perfect length. The sway bar is perfectly level with the ground, as it should be with the vehicle at rest.

The SKyjacker system comes with the sway bar links although they are not disconnects.

I'm in the midst of installing my Rusty's 4" lift. I bought sway bar disconnects for a CJ from another company (Rocky Mountain Suspension). I also bought a dopped pitman arm and extended brake lines at the same time. I told them this was for a vehicle with a 4" lift. The brake lines and pitman arm look fine, but the disconnects I got are the exact same size as what's in my Grand Wag (stock). I'm assuming they sent stock height ones, correct? Would it be wise for me to use these with the sway bar angled down on the sides? I'm going to call them Monday and see what it says they sent. If not the right ones, I'll probably get the right ones so the bar sits flat like it should. Any thoughts/suggestions?
Can't wait to test out the lift!!!

Just bringing this back to top so someone may see it. Didn't want to start a new thread on this if I don't have to. Thanks!

When I lifted my 88 the endlinks reached but the sway bar was turned down so far, I think it would have limited the spring travel even during normal driving. So I took my old shocks which had been replaced with skyjackers for a 4" lift and I cut the shafts off and welded 2 together end to end. The shock eyes are the same as endlink eyes except in my case they were a little beefier as were the shafts. I made them 12" long and they installed beautifully. It took about an hour to make both links. Most of that was spent trueing them up and making sure they were very straight.

Yeah, I got the 4" lift CJ disconnects, and they were shorter than the stock J-10 links!! Had to send them back. My stock J-10 links were about 9-1/2" center to center, so I need like a 13-1/2" link for the 4" lift. I was going to cut 2 pairs of old ones, so that when welded gave me that length.
The sway bar ends should be close to parallel to the axle at neutral position.
I used a 4" drop pitman arm with my Rusty's kit. Don't have any idea why they don't recommend one.

I'm having a similar problem as Anti. The 4" CJ disconnects I got are the same exact size as the originals in my Grand Wag. Guess I'll return them and try to get something else. Maybe I'll try the Rubicon Express ones.

AMC Fan,
I think I looked and Wrangler YJ ('87-'95)had the longest disconnects, like up to 12", so maybe that will work for you. I didn't see anything over 12", like what I needed for the J-truck.
If you do get disconnects, watch out for the one's like I first got that simply had a pin in the center - I can imagine the 2 halves banging against stuff after the pin was pulled when they were hanging - look for the one's where the entire center section comes out with 2 pins. Better yet, do like me and save the $100 and weld a custom set - since I know I won't ever disconnect them anyway....
Did you have trouble seating the rear springs?? Wow. What a $%&#*!!

Yeah, good thing when we do that frame, it will be with the bed off, and the whole rear suspension as one unit. tongue.gif
