I need to know if I can change the ignition trigger for fuel injection from a cherokee from flywheel crank triger to something else. I found a good donor harness and computer out of an '89 cherokee. also does anyone know if the newer(HO era 4.0's) fuel injection is better than the renix on the older 4.0's?

yes it is , not as tweakable, but better from the factory.
There are kits to relocate the sensor to the front harmonic balancer, available from HESCO, 4Wheel parts and others.
Stick with the Renix, its good and deals with higher o/p injectors better .
Look to the strokers group on yahoo.com for more, those guys know a lot..

im just swapping the head. stroker would be nice but I dont have the money to keep the compretion ration down and gas is to expensive to be running anything other than regular(87octane here) gas. I gop through enough of it I dont want to pay more for it

If you go with the renix system then you can swap in ford 5.0 injectors for a little more power.
That is what I am runing in my 90 XJ and have had no probs.

the mopar setup puts the CPS on the balacer. you can buy a balancer kit for the factory injection, for something like $400  or you may be able to modify your current belhousing to accept the sensor...

if I could get another T-5 bellhousing to modify I would just modify a bellhousing but ive never seen an FSJ with a standard in the wrecking yards. hard enough finding them at all in the wrecking yards

you might try putting posts inthe "wanted" sections of jeeps unlimited and pirate 4x4. im sure someone oult there will have one. the pirate page youll have to bump back up daily, stuff cycles thru there soooo fast... remember that cjs used the t5 as well, and your bell doesnt have to come from an fsj-just from behind a 258 or 360... heck,as far as that goes,it could even come from an 80s amc car...

ill keep my eyeballs peeled as well smile.gif

get this, I was at the local chryco dealership talking to there parts department. we looked through there performance parts catalog and found the entire fuel injection kit is bit over $3000(cdn) before tax. now they can get me a CPS relocation bracket and harmonix balancer for the conversion on there own, but they cant find a listing for a sensor on its own. what friggen good does a bracket and a dambner do without the friggen sensor? they need to get some smarter monkeys at head office
