My tranny leaks fluid way to quickly. I replaced the pan gasket yesterday using a thin coat of copper RTV hoping it might help but actually made it worse. Any ideas? Thanx

I don't know the reason why, but transmission pans do not require a sealant such as RTV. I suppose in desperation I would try just about anything.
Have you tried a new gasket?

RTV on a cork gasket can give it just enough slime to split the gasket and make your problem worse. Generally a cork gasket should always be installed dry (assuming the mating surfaces are flat.)

are the bolt holes dished in 0n the pan?. flatten them out and only use a 1/4" drive ratchet to tighten it.

Remember, in most manuals the torque specification is probably in inch pounds, not foot pounds. so you may have over torqued. Like andy d said, check to make sure you have a perfectly flat mating surface.....

my redneck 2 cents.....

Trany fluid is a solvent for RTV. Steal ships have some black RTV that they sell/use on caravan (chrysler) trany $10 .Its made for this, also cork will suck up some oil. try agin and check the tighness after its run for a time.

If you have a modulator on the side remember to change the O-ring. It will leak too.

get a new gasket -make sure the mating surface of the pan rail is flat and that the bolt holes are round not egg shaped no rtv since it is a 727/999 dodge trans you are trying to seal i would say get a new pan and if you want to stop playing with the world famous trans pan leak (727/999) get a alum trans pan
