I loved mine off road. It never stumbled or sputtered. The only bad thing about them is that they are hard to get them adjusted, for me anyway.
Never had a problem with one yet.
I've dumped $$ on several other makes (none bad, none great) over the years and keep finding myself running the Qjet.
I'm also running one. Works great.

I have Q-Jets on both my J3000 and my blazer.. only change I'll make is a TBI system someday... the Q-Jets are trouble free, and serve their purpose well.

Where can you get them and will they bolt onto the stock manifold?

I just looked on ebay for "quadrajet" and there were Rochester, Holley, and Chevy carbs listed from almost nothing to several hundred dollars! How do I know which ones are the right ones?
I'm a little overwhelmed here...

'74-'76 Caddy, huh. That would be a rochester, wouldn't it? I haven't tried removing my 2bbl yet, but I suppose I need to replace my manifold, too. (cha-ching, cha-ching... ;) ) Edelbrock? Does it have to be for the AMC 360, or is there something else that will fit it (like chevy or something...)?
Thanx
Yes it's a Rochester they're the original Qjets. And yes you need a 4v maniflod for an AMC 360/401 and an adapter to mount the carb.
PS: Check into DE smog regs before spending any money.

I have 2 Qjet spreadbores that I will someday figure out how to hook up. One is off a Chevy and the other off a Ford.

If I go to eBay for the Q-Jet, what is a decent price to pay for one. Would I be better off trying to get one from a junkyard? (I suppose I would have to rebuild it myself, wouldn't I...)
I think a boneyard is your best bet. Don't know about ebay prices but rebuilt Qjets are pretty expensive from a vendor.

You can get them off just about any chevy with a V8, for most applications though one from a similar sized engine out of a later '70s chevy/gmc truck will work very well. For a 360 get a carb off a 350, for a 401 go for a 400. Any of them can work those will just be set up for what is needed already and will make swapping it in a bit simpler.

Just any spreadbore adapter won't work. It needs to be specifiacally for mounting a Qjet. The mounting bolt pattern is way different. The correct adapter has it's own mounting studs. The Qjet uses the adapters studs to bolt the carb to it and then uses the stock AMC studs to bolt the adapter to the manifold.

Just beware that you don't pick up a factory AMC spreadbore manifold, as there is no adapter to go directly from the Q-jet spreadbore pattern to the AMC spreadbore pattern. I outline the gruesome details on my tech pages, comparing the Q-jet to the Motorcraft 4350 spreadbore carb.
BOB is the QJET GOD!!!!

No; it was to put the squarebore on the 4350-pattern spreadbore manifold. If you look at the comparison page, you can see the different locations of the bores; an adapter could be fabricated, but it would require a steep angle to realign the bores. A taller adapter could make it a straighter shot. It would be completely custom, though.
