its not working at all on my chevy engine,if i remove the wire and ground it it pins.could it be because i used teflon tape on the pipe threads?does it ground through these threads?

i woodnt think teflon would hurt it but....ive seen stranger things happen - i assume this is a three wire gauge? +, - and send unit wire where is oil temp send unit installed at? what is lowest reading on gauge? is the oil even getting hot enough to register? back to beginning take an ohmmeter check resistance from case of sending unit to a known good ground

Yes it does ground through the sending unit so it is possible that teflon tape is the problem.

I'd bet that the teflon tape is the problem also. When I put my oil temp gauge in I did the same thing and had the same problem.
