How do I remove the reservoir from the pump? I have taken the mounting bolts and the pressure hose fitting from the back. Does the pully need to come off also?
I had a very small leak from the pump and I want to change the seals. I think the leak was at the pully, but at freeway speeds it's hard to tell where it's coming from. I ordered a new pump w/o the reservior because I thought for the extra $35 it would be easier than changing all the seals. Am I right?

after all the bolts are removed from the back tap the reservoir off of the pump with a hammer handle or mallet you will also have to remove the pulley to use on the new pump

Thanks, I thought so, but it's really on there.

just like GSMIKIE said, tap it with a hammer. There is nothing holding it in once the hardware is off the back, so a couple well-placed swift blows should get the seal to break free. If you've taken off the pulley already you can tap sideways on the shaft housing. Remember to only use a power steering pump pulley remover to get that pulley off.

I'm going to rent one from the 'zone today. My pump was leaking from somewhere. Do they typically leak from behind the pully because that's where it seems to be coning from?
How do I get the new pully back on? Hamme and a socket to fit over the shaft? The service manual said it needs to be put on so that the shaft is past the pully by a little bit.

Mine leaked from the seal between the pump and the reservoir, so it looks like it comes from behind the pump. Although my rebuilt engine has only run for a few minutes so far, there were no leaks from the rebuilt pump anymore, so that seemed to take care of the problem.
My rebuild kit came with an installer bolt. It was a pretty simple setup with a bolt (I believe it was a 3/8" coarse thread about 3-4" long) with a washer and a square nut. The bolt goes into the pump shaft and drive the pulley on with the nut. The fit is really snug so you have to work to get that thing all the way down, I don't think using a hammer will get it on without damaging something.

I switched everything out ok, BUT, I have a very small drip between the pressure valve and the reservoir on the back. Neither the new directions nor the service manual say that there's supposed to be a gasket/o-ring there. Anybody whose done this know what to do????
BTW, that oil pan gasket is a PITA (new rear main seal). Just this little drip and I'll be leak free! Am I asking too much?
TIA,

there is a o-ring on the pressure valve fitting and a o-ring between the pump and the reservoir

Bummer. I thought there should have been one there but like I said, neither the service manual or the instructions that came with the new pump said to put one there.
Oh yeah, when I took the old one apart there wasn't one there either, unless it had disintegrated.
