Was there a flow/performance differance between the stock 4bbl spreadbore intake, or the AMC Javelin stock squarebore intake?? I know this is a little far out, but I just picked up a squarebore intake and was wondering?

Uh...., I didn't know that AMC ever had a spreadbore manifold, all the 4bbl's that I've taken off off jeeps, javelins and AMX's have been square bore?
Sell that 80lb hunk O' iron and get a Performer!

Aren't the 4bbl intake on these Jeeps spreadbore?? The motorcraft 4350 is a spreadbore carb I thought. Anyways, I got it for free, so I couldn't pass it up.

Yup lots of spreadbores were used such as the motorcraft 4350.
The square bore I believe does not move as much CFMs when when wide open as the spreadbore does. As far as performance I doubt you will ever notice the differance. If by the way you have a spreadbore intake there are adapters to run your square bore on it, just incase you didn't know that.

The late-sixties AMX's, Rebels, and other muscle car types had Carter AFB carburetors and so had square-bore manifolds. There's no inherent superiority between intakes just because of their bolt pattern. The square-bore pattern was actually called a "Holley" bolt pattern for a long time because that sort of meant you could bolt on a higher performance carburetor. But a lot of great carbs like the Carter Thermoquad, Rochester Quadarajet, and even several Holleys had spread-bore bolt patterns.

I figured there was not much of a differance, but I just wanted to make sure one didn't flow better than the other.

The big problem you may have with the older intake is that it may be for the low deck height motors and can be a real pain to seal (like almost impossible without multiple gaskets) and there also may not be an oil fill tube.

Hmm...this flashed in my mind, but I said hey it's free. It has the oil filler tube, though. I'll have to examine it a little closer.
