Long story short.
My 70' is currently set up for a Chevy v8. I need to get an engine in it to get it registered here in CA. The trans is a Chevy pattern t400 and there are frame mounts for the motor, but thay are a bit of a hack job and I dont trust the drivers side mount to hold the motor in place under heavy loads (crawling).
I will ultimately go Cadillac but need to get it mobile before I do.

Heres the deal.
I measured the framerail distance on my 70' and my 87yj. The 70' is 30" and the yj is 28". I thought about using yj conversion mounts and going with a 1" spacer on each side, but on the 70' the steering shaft will interfere with the mount location.

I know that there are people here that have put chevys into their jeeps, how did you deal with the mounts ?

Just looking for ideas.
:D
Thanks,
kris.

I beleive PAW and JC Whiteny sell the actual frame mount for Jeep to Chevy conversion. I used a set from JC whiteny in the past with good luck, Work well.

Is this the mount ?
JC Whitney Chevy Mount (http://www.jcwhitney.com/item.jhtml?ITEMID=141402&BQ=null)

Does this come with the crossmember "tube" or does that need to be fabbed ?

Do you have any pictures of yours ?

No that is not it. I will have to look and see if I can find them. I do not see them in JC's cat. But know they are in my PAW Cat. I will get a scan of them in the morning, off to work now.

The Advance Adapter Chevy to FSJ adapter mounts are $25 more than the closest competition, but are superior to all of them. The JC rip me off unit is crap, PAW(TD) units are almost crap, the novok unit is OK, but the AA unit you never have to worry about.

You get what you pay for and the FSJ mounts are marginal at best with high torque engines. Any SBC, BBC, or early model GM diesel will bolt to the FSJ mounts but not in the optimum location or heigth. Talk to guys trying to save bucks when going BBC or diesel and you will find bad remarks on the stock FSJ mounts.

i used advance adapters universal ones.they are all the way out on the last hole in them and i had to shim them 1/2 inch off each side of the frame.they are very heavy duty but i still gusseted the sides.
i was told when i bought them that they were not made to handle the torque of a bigblock but i bought them anyway.i cant tell you how they work because my rig just sits there at the moment.im waiting for my new driveshaft that was supposed to be here today but never showed.
