I'm picking up an 82 Wagoneer this weekend that has a bad tranny. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of tranny it would have. It has a 360.

Also if the tranny is slipping, is there a standard problem/resolution? Can Joe blow mechanic fix one of these?

Assuming it's an AT it's the TF727. It's a real common trans any reputable trans shop can work on.

pour some slick 50 in the tranny tube and give it a try.

Bluesky,
Is that the Wag the guy posted on Midwest Jeep Thing for $200? If so, you are lucky- sounds like a good rig.

Yeh it is. I don't even know what color it is or how many doors it has, but for that price I didn't even care to ask! Ive got a line on another tranny, but I wouldn't mind fixing this one myself if possible. Im gonna check the fluid and possibly throw some slick50 in there and see what happens. It is an auto, so it must be a torqueflight. Thanks for your help guys. I'm looking forward to having those other 4 cylinders that my YJ didn't come with smile.gif

I wouldn't dump slick 50 into it...it's junk teflon bits for a motor I can't see where it'd do any good for a trans either?
Try a can of STP instead and then go from there.

The best thing I've seen for a slipping tranny, short of the proper rebuild, is Trans-X. The next best is Lucas Transmission additive. This is from a non scientific, at random poll I've conducted at the parts store when people buy the stuff.
