Anybody out there have any idea where I might find a bolton Class III receiver hitch for my 83 J-10? Every place that I looked only shows wagoneer/cherokees. Since the applications are different, and the fuel tank locations are different, will the wag/cher hitch work? Anybody else ever ran into this problem?

I think the frame is a little narrower in the back of Wag verses a J-10. I have also been looking for a hitch without luck yet. A universal must be the way to go.

Wag frame is several inches narrower than the J10. I have one of each. Go figure.

I advertised for a J10 factory Class III on this web site and found one at a good price in Florida less than 2 miles from the father of a good friend of mine. And his father was coming to Virginia about 5 weeks later. Free shipping. Sometimes you get lucky.

Otherwise you have to use a universal.

Universal? Sounds cool! Anybody got any links, pics, or other sources for one of those? I've had the same (lack of) luck finding a made to fit one. Wags, Cherries, XJs, MJs, etc. all have 'em, but not the J-series trucks. Why?

Yes, I've measured too, wags are narrower in rear frame section(was hoping to take a GW class III hitch and put on my J10....no go!).

The closest I've got is the bolted on 2" receiver part on my '76 Honcho, but this is ONLY bolted to the bumper. Let's see....pic somewhere...dadeeedaa......there we are:

Would love to learn more about the universal kits though...sounds like a nice option!

Thanks....

You would think that there are other trucks that have a similar frame width. I'll see if I can get some measurements.

Uhaul has em. Its not in their books, they would have to call their "Hitch Central" to order it. Runs 225.00 if i remember right. Hitch number is 41010. Also one of a Mitsubishi Montero Sport will fit also(class 3). Its the round tube type. Havent seen the montero sport hitch mounted but someone on a list mounted one on a J20 and said it was a perfect fit. However on the montero sport hitch it sat in deep sorta. They said they just got a extra long hitch insert to compensate.

P.S. The Montero Sport hitch is cheaper, 189.00 if I remember right. Hope this helps! I dont run a hitch on mine, the stock bumper is enough for what I need.

just a quick update.....u-haul "hitch central" says the part number 41010 no longer exists.

I see you have a PwrWgn and a J-series, any pics of the PwrWgn hitch installed on a J?

A kit for a 1967 d200 power wagon? Is this a dodge/gm/ford or something else that U-haul has available?

I don't remember the part number but u-haul does have the hitch, you just have to find someone who knows how to look it up in the books, it took a couple of days for them to make it and ship it, but I think it was worth the wait.

Finally followed Elliot's advice:

And did the same thing Bozz did.....ordered from the guy on the east coast. "Ddmoe@aol.com"

I'm very happy with the hitch. Very stout- good weld quality and hardware included. Fits nicely under the stock bumper. Never did have any luck with U-Haul hitch central. Just my 2-cents!
