As stated below, I've got a 1406 carb. Since I am very new to cars, I can get it running but not running very good.
For those of you with the 1405/6 carb, how rich are you running your carbs (i.e. Where is the choke mark set, how many turns out are the set screws on the front...)
I don't know where the factory setting were since the someone tried to tune if for me and changed everything around and then left it...
Any help would be appreciated.. :D

the factory tune for the 2 skrews is 1 1/2 turns from bottomed out. So skrew em in all the way and turn em 1 and 1/2 turns.

cool thanks...
You'd be better off using a vacuum gauge on a running engine to tune the idle mixture screws. 1.5 turns is a good starting point but will probably need adjustment from there.
Does this apply to edelbrock's q-jet also.

Just remember the screws on the front adjust idle mixture only and do not apply to wether the carb runs rich or lean except when idling. The jets must be changed or modified to change richness.

How does one actually do this? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am always wanting to learn! Thanks!!

Actually on the 1406 you can change metering rods, and springs to richen it up during driving. You do not have to do jet changes. The edelbrock manual is very good at describing how to fine tune your carb. Correct, the mixture screw adjust idle. Vaccum gauge is the only way to tune in my book.
