I am trying to go threw my engine and find all of the vacuum problems..well I ran across a vacuum type of thing on the back part of the intake of the engine...it is round metal and has one hose leaving it, were is it suppost to be leading to??? I have checked most all of my lines and I think I am not getting neer enough vacuum as I should.....where is the main vacuum coming from on the engine???

Texas wagoneer;
... Someone could have modified the vacuum system and put in a small vacuum storage can… Some vehicles come equiped with these cans.
... There are four vacuum diagrams or set ups for the 1981 360 V-8 jeeps and eleven vacuum diagrams for the 1981 258 I-6s.
… If it is a V-8 it should have a can or round metal thing with four vacuum connections leaving it and is a fuel vapor control canster. The biggest hose is hooked to the carburetor bowl.
... Another runs to a tee that runs between a connection below the choke on the MC-2150 and the non linear valve. From the non linear valve the hose continues to the top of the dual CTO nipple.

You really need to fill out your SIG and describe your FSJ like year, model, engine, carb, tranny, t-case, diffs and major mods.
Good Luck.. http://www.boylover.net/ubb/graemlins/cool_shades.gifand CUL.. Don S..

If the metal object you are refering to is about 2.5-3in. in diameter, and is bolted to the intake, this is the EGR valve.
