View Full Version : Oil pan is off - what about bearings while I'm in there?

Hey there!

I've got the oil pan off and the mains caps loose. I'm in there to change the rear seal. Should I change the mains bearings while I'm here? I don't see any obvious signs of too much wear, but I don't want to dig back in there anytime soon. I hope to put everything back together in the morning, so fairly quick responses are important.

Whatcha think?

Thanks,

Greg

I suppose you could check them with plastiguage.

Godd idea, ralph... don't spend the money if you don't have to. If marginal readings are present, then to the bearing replacements.

They are cheap and you are in there anyway, might as well do it.

Plastigage them and if the mains are wore, do the rods also.
