This small town doesnt even have a Chiltons. I guess I gotta order one.
Anyway, I really need to know what gap to set the points to.

On just about any V8 with old-tech ignition, a good point gap is .016-.017", or about the thickness of a paper matchbook cover. Unlike plug gap, point gap has little to do with intensity of the spark. It's manipulated to control dwell, or the time the coil has to build energy while the points are closed.
