Power Locks and Doors

Here's the problem:

At times (no constant) the locks would pop up and down and I would lose control of them, they would stop I would have control and then they would start jumping again, when I turned off the Jeep I could lock and un-lock with no problem.......

Two days ago the lock stopped the jumping but the Rear Defroster Switch was lit-up (that and the rear wiper do NOT work)...it would not turn off manually and stayed on even with the keys out.....

Today, light is off, locks are dead and power Seats are dead......if I hold the defroster switch on the locks work and the power seats work until the fuse blows labelled IGN LPS (25Amps, PO had 15Amps)


How are these related whats going on????

BB look for fryed, broken wires going into the doors. they re sposed to be in a plastic duct thingythat moves with the door. but the engineer who designed the piece in 1974 never figured it to outlast AMC. mine are gone, a wire shorted and im down at the beach. hammered. allova sudden, ta-chunk, all 4 locks dropped. captured. i hadda crawl out a window. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif your gremlin could be something similar. on my 88 the wire jackets have gotten brittle and are breaking at the terminals. its an age thing, i guess.
