*** THIS INFO IS NEEDED FOR 76 AND NEWER J TRUCKS ONLY***
Above is a pic of a J20 front hanger for the rear spring...not ALL J trucks have this particular mount, but I need to identify which J trucks have this particular mount as my kits WILL NOT WORK with it... in the the near future, I will be designing a kit for this mount if a volunteer that is close to San Diego is willing.. ;)
Please help me identify the years and models these mount were used in and on... IE year/ J10 or J20 and shortbed or longbed.
I was under the impression these mounts were used in the 70's on the camper edtion J20's but I need to ensure on all years/makes/models.
So... if you have this mount on you J Truck... please post with the appropriate info... thanks ;)

I have a Chief, but my 76 TSM shows the frame of the 131 inch wheelbase having that mount on the rise of the frame. It also says the horizontal distance between the front and rear mounts is 56.47 inches, while the 119 wheelbase is 57.22. The 119 front mount is before the rise so it's slightly longer.

Mine 78 J10 look's like it is on the flatter part of the frame just before that. I'll have a pic up later.

As soon as we get some daylight here, I'll check. Pretty sure tho, Peso doesn't have this and she's a shortbed.

I would bet it's LWB only, and as far as I've heard, the LWB J10 and J20 share the same frame. Hollander lists J10 springs crossing over to Cheros/Wags, however it lists J20/J10 LWB springs by themselves.
Did that frame come from Connecticut???  smile.gif

My 81 J10 has the mount flat up and down like box mount wags/cheros. I see your kit working fine on my J10. That mount is funky looking, never seen one like it.

Yeah - isn't model 45 a long bed? I thought that it's 25, 45, 46 - J10 SWB, J10 LWB, J20.

25, 45, 46 were just weight desciptions. Mine's a long bed J4500 1/2 ton or used to be. Don't know if there were any short bed heavy 1/2 tons after 73. Before 74, there were J2600s that were heavy half short beds.

MY 1980 AND 1984 J-20 HAVE THOSE MOUNTS ON THEM.
IS ANYONE MAKING A DROP LIFT KIT FOR THE FULL SIZE JEEPS LIKE I SEE ON EBAY FOR THE FORDS?
THEY JUST DROP THE LEAF SPRING MOUNTS LOWER TO ADD A LIFT TO THE TRUCK,I THINK THEY ARE FOR THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK ONLY.

Todd,
When I bought that parts J20 I was told it was a '77, however, it has the ears on the front of the frame for the bumper mount so despite the ugly color of the body I believe the truck was at least a '79 (if that matters at all).
I would think the SWB would neccessarily be mounted in the standard manner as the springs locate further foward and on the straight (vs curved) section of the frame. I'll have to check out Gramcracker's pics.

If you look at the pic Todd posted the bottom of the box is not paralell to the bottom of the frame, but follows the radius of the curve.

Yup, those on his '83 are definitely the same as the rest of the J10's. I'm betting its a LWB thing.

I have a 79 longbed J-10 parts truck that has that setup.

Ok , from the parts book
81/ 10-25 #8126850
81/ Left - 26 27 #8126851
81/ Right - 26 27 #8126852
10 - Wag-Cherkee
25 -109" J10
26 -131" J10
27 -131" J20
So all 81 and up (atleast to 86 where my book ends)
long bed J series had them.
(Could be below 81 to but to lazy to go look)
Short bed used the same part left to right and also
the same as the Wagoneer/Cheokees.
And yes indeed , long bed trucks used a different
part # rear spring than the short bed , which used the
same springs as the Wag/Cherokees

Looks like 76 - to end of life for that part
on all long bed pickups J10 and J20.
(I checked the other book)

Just a suggestion Todd, but since it's still in the design mode you might want to consider building those brackets in a way that they mount the springs at the correct height but could be mounted in either the factory width locations or inboarded under the frame 3/4-1" per side. I set mine up that way to allow the springs to clear the brake drum backing plates on the C14 that I did not intend to swap out for discs.
Just a thought, it's nice to have the option and would make the kit a lil more versatile.

Elliot,
I will look into this when I get started on the design.... may decide to make and optional kit if its a high enuf demand for it....
