Well today was the day that the Chero was going in the bodyshop and have the new floorboards welded in. However I have a huge oil leak from the tranny. I thought maybe it was just the pan gasket but it leaking from the top of the tranny, up past the starter. It might be trans cooler lines but they are oil free up top. So I called my tranny guy and he said that it might be the pump and it's pumping it out the overfill. Gsmikie does this sound possible? I have an appointment with him next week!!! Maybe the 4" lift will have to wait!! :(

Check the dipstick tube.... there is an O-ring in there...I have seen leaks here that look like a bad one... clean the trans well and then run it....see if you can isolate it....

I drove it 6 miles to the Bodyshop and it used/leaked a qt of tranny fluid. It seems to use it more when I drive it, but it still leaks when it just sits.

there is a case vent on the top pass side of the th 400 when one of the lip seals in the center support goes bad it will pump fluid out of the vent and if you get it up to 55-65 mph it will also pump fluid out of the dip stick tube since you parked it for the winter it problly has a stiff or torn lip seal let it warm up for about 45 min and see if it quits leaking if it does put some slick 50 auto trans stuff in it if it does not quit leaking rebuild the trans

Seriously....I WILL pull mine this time for a rebuild if you come through....and I have a buddy that could use a TH400 too, so we could find a core somewhere and rebuild one for him too....

What is the date?

What about the front main seal around the torque converter?? The torque converter has a bearing surface the will get rusty if it sits too long and will tear up the seal, besides actually wearing out sometimes anyway.
