This may be a dumb question...
I have a stock pile of parts for Ford Small Block engines... 302-351
Mainly I am asking this because I have a lot of experiance with SBF and I have lots of parts and resorces. Is is practiacal to think about a a conversion for a SBF in a FSJ... say a 1978, what TCase would you use and what Tranny...
just thinking...

I've often thought about this myself, being less than a fan of the AMC v-8, but the biggest problem I see is that the 70 and 80's ford transfer case are driver's drop, okay for post 80 FSJ, but maybe too much of a headache for the pre 80 fsj. I was thinking maybe 460 for my 88GW, but I think I have settled on b block mopar so I can keep my 229.

If you have a T18a you can just use the ford bell housing with the amc spacer andit should bolt right up. As fords came with T18's too..just a slightly different one.

I've contiplated the same swap in my'84, mainly because the SBF is the lightest v-8, and they have tons of hop up parts available.

I'm seriously hoping to put a 351 into Timex, with some 302 fuel-injection heads. I'm getting a free Ford T-18a and NP-208 from a friend (granted, they need to be rebuilt...) which promted this idea.
