Lifter question

I have a bad lifter and I remember an old trick where you can pull the rocker arm and lift out a bad lifter with a magnet and replace it without pulling the intake manifold. Will this work on a 360? Sometimes the pushrod holes are too small. The lifters were fine until the "X" drove it a liitle hot about 3 weeks ago. She borrowed it from the previous owner. After she brought it back the lifter was ticking. Will it work?

Not on an AMC, lifter area too small to get lifter out. But I have seen that done before.
