I posted about a rough running engine a while back. I've come to the conclusion it is either the lifers pumped up too much or the valve stems weren't trimmed properly after valve job. What would cause a lifter to pump up too much? Maybe wrong lifters? Anybody had this experence after a rebuild? Thanks

Well, as a matter of fact I just swapped out all my lifters as they were not replaced by the DSPO during a budget overhaul. 12 out of 16 of them had thier top retaining clip missing which may cause it to seem overpumped and 2 of them had collapsed all-together. It's not likely that the lifter would overpump itself but, who knows. My advice is that for about $90 you can just replace all the lifters yourself. That $90 includes $50 for new lifters, $25 for a neww valley pan gasket, and $15 for new valve head cover gaskets (and that only depends on whether or not they used cork vs rubber. Cork cannot be re-used, rubber can.).
Did you rebuild it yourself or pay to have it done? If you paid someone, take it back to them and complain.
I hope this helps some.
