Boy, what a can of worms! Let's see:
'88 Grand Wagoneer:
* touch up rust forming under woodgrain on various points of the truck
* maybe change sparkplugs
* Tint the rear windows to keep the sun off my infant daughter (this is our daily-driver)
* Polish the factory aluminum 5-slots from my Cherokee and install on the GW, along with its 31" tires once the Cherokee moves up to 35" ones.
* Hammerite black the rusty tow-hitch.
'78 Cherokee:
* re-lap the valves for the heads that are sitting in the big sink in my basement, and clean and assemble with new valvesprings
* degree Edelbrock cam
* Take out old engine, and remove intake for use on replacement engine
* Reassemble replacement motor with old intake, clean it, and paint it.
* Install engine
* Oh, yeah, do this before its inspection sticker runs out in December!
* Finish construction of rear I-beam bumpers (fabricate brackets to tie into framerails, add 2" receiver tube, paint with Hammerite)
* Construct front I-beam bumper (materials are just sitting there waiting for me to get engine in...)
* relocate front turn-signals to front bumper using Escort lenses and housings (the old spot where they mounted on the valence will be cut away for approach clearance)
* Cut spare front fenders for tire clearance
* Go through front axle, which works but is of unknown condition for bearings and u-joints
* Fix weak brakes
* Install leather interior from donor '79 Wagoneer Limited
* Install radio I just pulled out of an old parts-car of mine, along with speakers
* Find cheap set of 35" tires to go on the white-spokers I've got, after I paint the white-spokers with red Hammerite (I like that Hammerite! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif )
* Sand the body, then actually use the ten cans of Rustoleum Red that I bought on sale last spring...
* Install the aftermarket sunroof I saved from the '79 Limited
* Long-term: Install the Olds403/TH400/QT setup I've got sitting in my driveway (engine is rebuilt, but I'll have to add the QT output shaft to the BOP tranny
* Longer-term: Install the Olds 455 that currently powers my Cutlass when I get around to building its original engine.
* Longer-longer-term: SOA up front and shackle flip/relocate front eye mount for rear springs.
* Pie in the sky: Convert spare set of doors out behind the garage to cut-downs for summer driving, with canvas snaps and flaps for the occasional bad weather.
For both FSJ's:
* Sort through the spare spring-packs I've accumulated to build a good set of springs for my GW, and a flexy set for my Cherokee
For the little '84 XJ that I've been driving around until my friend from Scotland gets his US driver's license:
* Swap on the three better 235/75's I've accumulated to replace the ones on there now that are bald, or leaking air, or both.
* Change the hoses and coolant
* Rebuild and replace the clutch slave cylinder, which slowly leaks fluid
* get it aligned, so as to perhaps cure a deadly wobble that develops in the steering at 45mph (these nasty little XJ Cherokees are known for these "Death Wobbles"; another reason I like my FSJ Cherokee much better!)
* Patch the holes in the floor
* Swap the spare steering column with a functional dimmer switch (old one broke internally; I like the two-screw/one-plug floor-mounted dimmer in my '78 better!)
* Fix the front axle disconnect so it actually has 4wd
* Install the horns, and replace the horn relay.
* Replace broken terminals in the fusebox
(I've already done a ton of little things on this truck to just get it on the road; I'm wondering whether it is worth it. Well, I guess it's a Jeep, sorta... http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/wink.gif )
Now, on to the '70 Cutlass SX:
* Find a rust-free passenger-side rear quarter (already have the driver's side)
* Buy the pieces for the trunk floor and the wheelwell housings, as well as the front fenders
* Run an additional fusebox out to the garage (dig trench to run the line out to the separate garage)
* Strip the body of the SX to the shell
* Buy a MIG welder, cut off the rusted body parts, and weld on the new
* Rechrome bumpers
* Turn garage into paint-booth, and spray the body Galleon Gold with Black stripes
* Install new black interior (thankfully, all available repro)
* Find convertible frame with boxed rails, detail, add Vista Cruiser 10-bolt rear axle with 3.73:1 gears, tall-spindle front suspension with tubular upper A-arms, stainless brake lines, and American Racing 5-spoke Torque-thrust rims with 275/60-15's out back and 255/60-15's up front.
* Rebuild original 455 with Edelbrock aluminum heads and intake, then paint factory blue and install in replacement frame.
* Unbolt redone body, lift up, roll out old frame and detail underneath floorpans, roll under the new detailed chassis with drivetrain attached.
* Bolt on front clip and bumpers
* Convert A/C to R-134a
For my '69 Toronado:
* Replace blown fuse keeping heating system from working
* Replace worn remote choke coil
* Replace taillight bulb that is shorting between the turn light and the tail light.
* Sell (it occupies the garage that the Cutlass will live in, so one has to go http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/frown.gif )
Wow, and if you want to include house projects:
* Fix cracks and holes in my infant daughter's room, and repaint so we can move her into there in a crib (she's growing quick!)
* Rake leaves and cut grass, and fertilize if it isn't too late (it probably is, though)
* Build gate to keep kids from behind garage (where all the extra parts for these trucks and cars are stored)
* Widen driveway with bricks scavenged from a demolished apartment building
* Build gate for driveway
* Build stone(faced) retaining wall at property line with neighbor (long-long-long-term project)
* Add a second bathroom (three daughters+one bathroom=upcoming disaster)
* Find a way to get grass to grow in my yard
* Organize my shop in the basement
* Pour cement to create pad for working on cars and trucks in the driveway (right now it's just a two-track, so my creeper keeps getting stuck in the dirt under the middle of the truck)
* Expand garage by 3' in all directions, and add a drive-under lift to make it a two-car garage, vertically (it's barely a one car now, but with just a 50'x100' lot here in the city, I can't make it a 2-wide without using up the whole back-yard).
* Plant some bulbs to come up next spring
Of course, then there's work, so all of the above has to be done in my spare time, which works out to be about 1-2 hours per week.
