I am done! I can't deal with this carb thing anymore. Tonight I was out trying to trace down the vac leak on the rebuilt 2150 I just put on. It was running much better than the holley. Well as I was tighting down the carb one of the sides broke off!!!! The carb is useless now. So is the holley I just took off. I am carbless now.

I am so fed up I am thinking of selling the wag. It is either that or let it sit until I can afford to buy an edelbrock intake and carb set up, but it is my daily driver also. What would you do??????

Goto the local junkyard and pick up a 2150 from 1 of about 50 vehicles that used that carb. Then take the new parts out of your broke one, and put it in the one from the junk yard.

BTW: those carbs are knownn for breaking like that.

What is wrong with the holley? Could you put a kit in it? If you wheel the Wag it would prolly be better to find a cheapy daily driver and then fix the Wag later to use as your playtoy. I only drive 11 miles a day anymore so I use my Wag as a daily driver but do not rely on it alone as it has decided not to be the most dependable rig I have ever owned. This really sux as my old Cherokee pick up was very dependable and most of the drive train ended up in this rig.

Whoa whoa whoa! Dude! It's not useless! I broke my 2150 at the back driver's side of the base plate. The body cracked up about an inch or so all the way through the altitude compensator internal passage. It broke the whole corener of the carb apart! I was freaked, but I took it off, set it back together, and put a thin layer of JB Weld down the seams, inside and outside keeping it as flat as possible. 4 hours later when it cured, I was *Very* careful remounting it on the manifold, started it right up and we're all good to this day!

Don't trash it.. you can fix it! I did!

Hey,
As ClarkG has said, "I feel your pain"
We've all been there I think. There are times when these things make you want to cry, and/or smash everything in sight.

Take a deep breath (and maybe chill for the night) and figure out what you got to do now to get it back together. Sounds to me like a new/used 2150 is the simplest way to go. Yea, its very frustrating getting set back so far timewise. But, you've done the drill before, so you can do it.

Its definately worse when you are extra jammed 'cause its your only set of wheels. I'll say, now that I have a second motor vehicle again, its slightly better when that Great Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley Moogley happens. (only slightly though)

Well last night really did it! I did the whole JB weld fix. It seemed like it was going to work great. After I put it back on and started it up, it made a horrible whistling sound! It would go away as soon as I gave it gas. I figure it must be a leak from under the mounting plate. I take it back off check it out. As I am putting it back on one of the studs strip out!!!! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/eek.gif http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/mad.gif

That put me over the edge. I am going to make one final attempt at rebuilding the holley. The wag run bad with it on but at least it ran. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/frown.gif

Word!!

I will email my address to you. Thanks.

I found a edelbrock torker intake for $150 but I think it is a little much for what I am running. I am going to try to stay with the 2150.
