Forgive my newness, just got the truck, '81 J-10, I-6.
I have a slow fuel leak on right side of frame, across from tank, not the tank though. Found it last night after I topped off the tank.
Gas gauge does not work, so this would tell me sending unit connection is bad. Would bad sending unit cause this leak? Or is this something else?
Please advise....thanks.

Thanks for the info.

Could be the sending unit but prolly not too likely. Check for any cracks(plastic tank I think) and check the fill/vent connection at the filler tube. Not sure on an 81 but the earlier trucks had a vent hose from the fill neck that rots out and separates at the connection so you'll spill fuel when filling the tank.

Problem is on opposite side of gas tank, probably the fuel line.
BTW, where is the fuel pump and is it electrical or mechanical?
Thanks,
Tom

Mechanical on the drivers side of the block. Follow the fuel line back from the carb...ya can't miss it. smile.gif
