When I got my truck the guy said the frame was straight and seeing as how he owns a 4x4 shaop I trusted him. But today I was diging under it removing the radiator and I looked at the frame and I not sure if I agree with him. Is there any easy way to tell?
thanks

What gave you the indication that it isn't straight? Does it dogwalk? Shake funny? Does it have a wrinkle in the frame from a head-on impact? Take a picture of it and include it in your reply in here (Although I don't know how to.. perhaps someone can show us how to upload pictures to the replies)

when i was under it unhooking hoses for the radiator i looked at the front crossmember and it did'nt look right so i got as perpendicular to the frame as possible and sighted it like you would a peice of lumber and it looked like it was bent slightly just after the braces on both side. unfortunetly a scaner and camera are univalible to me in the near future. it did suffer quite an impresive head on with a rock before i got which is actualy why i got it. the lady who owned it couldent aford to have it fixed so after seven years in a shops storage i got it for $400. but the stearing is so f!cked that I havn't actually driven it yet so i can't tell you how she rides.
really apreciate any sugestions.

My front crossmember (right behind the front bumper) is also crooked. It looks like they just set it in there and welded it without measuring it. Oh well, It ain't going nowhere!

come on, no holding out on an ignorant country boy like me. somebody has to know a way to tell if my frame is straight that dosn't require spending lots of money on a profesional.

The only way to check without gauges would be to take a tape measure and x out under the vehicle. Select points front and rear which are the same on both sides and measure from left rear to right front and vice versa. The longer the distance, the more accurate the reading. If you have any questions, drop me a line.
