Looked throughout all my jeep manuals to no avail on this one. Has anyone successfully removed one of these motors? (Especially hard when I can't adjust the seat back out of the way.) I need to check it out to see if I can repair or need to replace.

It would probably be easiest just to take the whole seat out. It's just 4 bolts but try to spray them really good with some kind of penetrent. At least that way you will be able to see what you are doing.

Pull the seat, then you can take the motor off of the bottom of the seat. It's not hard, but you might have to break your hands in strategic places to get to the attachment points.

I just leave the bolts in the floor. I unbolt the 4 bolts that hold the seat to the base and the motor is easily removed from the base.

Thamks for the reply. I took the seat out to find a frayed wire about 5" away from the switches. Seems to have rubbed on the seat frame. Make a note to look at those wires by unscrewing the switch. Look at where the wires go over the seat frame. Might just save a lot of hassle in the long run. B.T.W... the window motors are very fixable. Just did my second one sat.. Took it out and cleaned the brushes with 400 wet/dry paper and the contacts on the winding. To get it back put the motor into the worm gear and hit the up/down switch to wind the gear back in. Cal
