I am still having troubles with this steering column. I have the Jeep repair book for my year, plus the Haynes manual out and neither one shows or explains how to do this.

In order to replace the Lock Rack in the steering column of my tilt wheel automatic GWagoneer, I have to remove the tilt axis bolts.

Well, they don't have a regular head on them to be removed, instead they look like bolts. They have threading in them. and nothing to grab onto to pull them out.

Can anyone please tell me how to remove these? I came home early to take care of this but seem to be absolutely stumped.

Thanks,
William

Here's what ya' do...find a bolt that threads into the pin. Spin a nut up to the bolt head and put a washer below it. Then find a socket that just fits around the pin. Place the socket over the pin and thread the bolt into the pin through the socket. After the bolt bottoms in the pin, hold the socket in place and tighten the nut against the top of the socket. This will pull the pin into the well of the socket.
