I doubt one would ever have a Curb weight of 6200 LBS you must be reading the GVW on the door sticker. That is the rated Gross Vehicle Weight, Vehicle and Load capacity. Not the Weight of the Rig. I would think 4500 to 5000 LBS would be average for all years and models. ;)

Dry shipping weight(no fuel, no driver etc) is about 3800 for an 82. The later electro intensive power everthing GW's weigh more.
GVWR(usually around 6000-6200) is what the rig is allowed to legally carry "including the weight of the rig", cargo, fuel, driver, old fries under the seat, the 172 catsup packs in the glove box, tools, winch, spares blah blah...
