I'm having trouble getting good brake pressure on my '78 J10. I've tried bleeding the brakes several times, checked all hoses; wheel cylinders and master cylinder are new.
I've read that you have to set the brake proportioning valve in a certain position to bleed the brakes correctly. My valve is a type W, so I'm supposed to pull the pin out while bleeding the brakes(?). The pin is fairly small, and I can't imagine how I would pull it out with a pliers while I bleed the brakes. Any ideas?
I also took the valve off and cleaned it up. I noticed that there is a black rubber seal toward the back of the valve, just below the hole for the upper mounting bolt. The seal seems to be punctured. Is this correct, or should I seal it?
