I'm working on a '77 Cherokee with a Motorcraft 4350 on there and it has really poor top-end. Turns out that secondaries don't open up. I can push down the air doors and they don't push down. I can open the throttle to WOT and push down on the air doors and again they don't push down. There is linkage to a thing on the drivers side of the carb that appears to be jammed or stuck. I looked at another carb in the salvage yard, (that I probably should have picked up), and it moved up and down like it was spring loaded. My question is, has this ever happened to anybody else, an how did they gewt that sucker free. I've tried carb cleaner, and moderate force, should I move up to fre-it and heavy force? Am I off my rocker and way in the wrong direction? I know Q-Jets,2-Jets, and the 2150, but this thing is one weird piece of work. TIA, Dave

hi Dave I think someone is sending you words while I hunt & peck..I have a 4350 rite here under my nose..Don't have the lingage on it and took it apart in 1988. Dave..these carb are prone to warp the top at the input. If m-rods and rear top flaps are locked, i'd guess the piston bores have crud in them. They are vacuum controlled. The link should go to a cam by the throddle valve, but mine is still out in the work shop..I like the 4300 off of 74 Fords & AMCs......If this doesn't help,,, don't send any MONEY... :D :D ....ds...ps i'm ds40176 at Cfsja...
