you richened it 2 steps?! The edebrock comes rich factory...are you below sea level or something? Are you sure the choke was set right before? That would cause it to run super lean, and steeping up in richness would make it run correctly again..but your gas milage would be terrible (like you are pointing out) I get about 10-12mpg in my cherokee with a 360 and a 1406/performer intake.
have you changed your metering rods and jets?.. You're in Ogden, and your carb is calibrated for sea level. You should get some smaller sized metering rods and jets. Checker has a chart and can help you get the right ones.
Still, I'd like to know how you drive and more about your jeep.

thanks for the insight Stuka, i just read in the owners manual how to adjust for high altitude, i am at about 4500 feet so according to the manual i will set it two steps leaner and then i am going to recheck the choke, hopefully it helps.
Kong, my timing is 8 degrees advanced, should be just fine for the chevy. and i drive pretty conservately.
thanks

I used to get 15mpg till I had my engine rebuilt, even after 25,000 miles I,m only getting 10 to 11 mpg. Good luck with yours, it does sound like you are running it to rich.
