Is the NP208 the vaccuum actuated transfer case? I have a 1982 Wagoneer w/258 and automatic tranny. If its all stock, my transfer case is an NP208 right?

no. NP208 is not vacuum. For that year, I believe you should have a 208.

Yes it has locking hubs. That's bad news. I thought it was the vacuum one and it needs replaced. I bought a vacuum one. I'm an idiot!
Which one is the vacuum one?

Nope no vacuum tcases in 80-82. Only two tcases in those years was the 208 part-time and the 219 full-time tcases and neither are vacuum. It's possible that you have the 219 and someone added the hubs later but more likely it's the 208. The 208 behind an AT with have a hokey shift lever down in front of the seat with 4L-N-4H-2H pattern. The 219 will be a top mount shifter with a pattern on the knob 4L-N-4H-LOCK. Note no 2WD mode. The tag on the tcase will also tell you which NP case you have.
The 5th digit of your VIN will tell you what trans/tcase came with your Wag from the factory. "A" is the AT w/219 and "E" will be the AT w/208.

What t-case would be in a 1983-84 Wag w/auto and 360 V8?
NP208 or NP229(vacuum shifted)
