Ordinary hand tools will suffice. Support the rear axle on jackstands, remove the wheel and brake-drum, undo the four bolts holding the retaining plate to the axle housing, put the drum back on the wheel studs backwards, put the lug nuts on a few turns, use the drum as a slide hammer, and the axle should pop out of the housing.
Why do you need to remove the axle?
making a loud poping noise mechanic told me the bearing was probally shot you can grab the wheel and move it back and forth

I see you are posting that you need a rear axle in wanted. If you take your axle into a machine shop or somewhere they have a press a new bearing and seal can be pressed on. I would think this is the way to go, as you would have a new bearing and seal this way. Unless the axle is damaged I would just replace the bearing and seal, most likely cheaper as well. ;)
